A large size sterling silver easel back photograph frame. This is an exceptional example of a sterling silver photograph frame one is likely to find. Simple in design, so as to not detract from the determined content, but masterfully made. The two swinging catches open out to free the wooden velvet covered back, this then slides down through a gap in the base of the frame, then allowing it to be angled out for adding the photograph. Very simple, and neat, and most unusual. The frame, although being complete with no decoration or ornamentation, is of the highest quality. A very thick gauge of sterling is used throughout, and the frame is in exceptional condition. On the base of the frame are a wonderful full set of Tiffany & Co. marks with registration numbers and reference number, along with the 'M' initial. This allows the piece to be dated for production under the stewardship of John C. Moore II, who was head of Tiffany between 1907-1947. Circa date of 1920's, made in America.
